Foster

Long Road Home Rescue relies entirely on foster homes—our foster parents are the lifeline that makes it possible for us to continue saving these beautiful dogs.

We look for foster families who are willing to open their hearts and homes to a dog in need, loving and caring for them as their own until we can find their forever family.

While you foster, Long Road Home Rescue provides everything your pup needs, including food, toys, a crate, and coverage of all veterinary costs.

And remember—anything you purchase for your foster pup is tax deductible!

Types of Foster Parents

Through our rehabilitation programs, we focus on the physical and emotional healing of our dogs.

Two-Week Foster:

Sometimes, our pups simply need a safe and loving place to stay for a short time. We understand that not everyone can commit until a dog finds its forever home. By fostering for just two weeks, you give a pup the chance to be saved while we continue searching for an adoptive family or long-term foster.

Don’t worry—we will never send a pup back to the shelter. However, temporary foster homes are vital because they help us avoid costly boarding expenses and, most importantly, save lives.

Permanent Foster:

Become part of our foster family team by committing to care for a pup until they find their forever home. We provide all the basic supplies you’ll need to care for your foster dog.

As a permanent foster, you’ll play an important role in helping your pup get adopted. We encourage our foster families to join us at events, share updates, and send plenty of photos so we can match the pup with their perfect home.
